As trauma is layered in nature, therapy must take place in stages, while honouring your needs and where you are curently at. Sessions are focussed on ways which best strengthen and support you, rather than taking you back into what happened. As we are often well functioning human beings in many aspects of our lives, we want and feel ready to delve deep and believe that doing so speeds up the process of healing or recovery. However, the fact is, slow is better. As we are changing patterns of relating to ourselves and the world – patterns which are deeply embedded, change must take place with great care.

To this end, I practice from an anti-oppressive, client centered ideology, relying on and utilizing types of therapies that have worked in my own journey and those that I have found most effective for clients. Among these are the following: Relational Therapy, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, CBT, DBT, and Mindfulness.  Most importantly, I believe in being present with you every step of the way. It is my strong belief that the right type of therapy can lead to empowerment, personal growth, and most importantly, a profound change in the way we see, take care of and protect ourselves.

"Healing takes courage, and we all have courage, even if we have to dig a little to find it."
